Will Pinhey is a London-based writer of character-focused genre stories across film, theatre, and prose fiction.

His debut folk horror independent feature film Mother Maker Lover Taker premiered at Unrestricted View Film Festival in 2024, winning the Festival Director’s Choice Award, and was released to streaming platforms internationally in 2025 that include Apple TV, Prime, and Plex.

His short film script The Duel and the Dye was longlisted for Best Unproduced Screenplay at the 2026 British Short Film Awards, after placing as runner-up in the inaugural 2026 London Suspense short film screenwriting competition with Idris Elba’s production company 22 Summers and being longlisted for the 2026 Slick Films Fund. The script is now in pre-production with Developing Room Films and is currently a Top 3 finalist in Kinolime's 2026 Shorts Competition, selected from over 2,500 submissions.

He has been the winner of the National Theatre’s New Views playwriting competition, reached the penultimate reading round of the Verity Bargate Award, and been longlisted for the Lyric Hammersmith’s Bill Cashmore Award, Theatre503’s International Playwriting Award, and The Bread and Roses Playwriting Award.

His short fiction can be found published globally with The Berlin Review, Idle Ink, Crow & Cross Keys, The Horizon, Literally Stories, Bristol Noir, Scribbled, Slash Magazine, and London Fog.

He graduated the MA Script Writing programme at Goldsmiths, University of London with a Distinction.
